Chicken Taouk

One of our favorite Ottawa restaurants is Les Grillades where we usually order a chicken Taouk and a beef Soujouk. In between orders, I have learned to make them both at home because the flavors are so delicious!

Chicken Taouk

Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts can be cut into pieces for kebabs (but I usually don't).
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, or to taste feel free to use less or leave out
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 1 lemon juice only
  • 1 tbsp sweet paprika
  • 3/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper or to taste

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients except chicken together in medium sized bowl. Add chicken to marinade and marinate for as along as you have time (this can be done overnight, but it's good with 15-30 minutes).
  • Cook on grill or in oven at 350⁰ F until internal temperature is 165.
