Refrigerator Oats

By Deborah

I’m totally on board with this new trend! It’s especially handy when I’m traveling and staying in an AirBnB. On a recent trip to Manitoba, I discovered Adagio Acres Rolled Oats. https://adagioacres.com/

REFRIGERATOR OATMEAL

I understand the refrigerator oats, but honestly, I don't do that anymore! I just throw it all together in the morning (and no need for jars, either, I put it in the bowl) and eat it right away! I like to use rolled oats with a little texture, so I usually use 365 Old Fashioned Rolled Oats.
Servings 2 servings

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk of choice I use either almond or oat
  • 1 banana cut into pieces
  • 4 tablespoons blueberries use other fruits if you want
  • Chai seasoning recipe in notes
  • 2 tablespoons wheat bran add just before eating

Instructions

  • Cut banana in half and cut into pieces in two containers. Add 2 tablespoons of blueberries to each container. Add ¼ cup rolled oats to each container. Sprinkle with chai seasoning.
  • Put a cover on each container and put in refrigerator overnight. This will last several days in the refrigerator.
  • Next morning, spoon out one container into a bowl and add 1 tablespoon wheat bran on top.

Notes

Use oats with more texture for best results.
Chai Spice Mixture: 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground cardamom, 1 tablespoon ground ginger, ½ tablespoon ground allspice, ¼ tablespoon ground cloves, ½ tablespoon ground nutmeg. Mix together and put in spice jar for use with refrigerator oats.
