Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries, washed
  • 1 sweet apple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch chunks
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin to burst, the apple pieces are tender, and the sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add juice of 1/2 lemon (or more to taste); let cool. The sauce will thicken as it cools. Taste and add more maple syrup or lemon juice, if desired.
  • Cover and store in the refrigerator.
